Springtime Greetings from jukebox curator Paul Walker – also from stalwart ‘Tina enthusiast Steve Taggart, based in UK. (Who as usual has unearthed a fascinating bundle of clips from the Internet for this issue.)

But first special correspondence from Stateside reader Greg Mirken
“Greetings, Paul. Here are a pair of links for the Jukebox. These are YouTube videos my band, Three Times Through, recently put out. We’re having sort of a competition between The Stones and The Beatles for views. When I’m 64 is medleyed with Josefin’s Waltz; Paint It Black is sandwiched between The White Petticoat and O’Connell’s Welcome to Dublin.
The video quality is very good. I am one voice in a quartet so the concertina isn’t predominant in these arrangements, but the concertina parts [especially in the pop tunes] is critical. Both of these are loads of fun to play.
I’m hoping the Concertina Org viewers will make one of these a clear favorite!
Thanks for your work on this project! Contact me if you want any more information.
Greg Mirken member, ICA”

Greetings. Joining stalwart ‘Tina enthusiast Steve Taggart, (who as usual has unearthed a fascinating bundle of clips from the Internet) and myself this issue, is reader Eric Lerner. He writes to the editor:

“I joined ICA last winter after I discovered World Concertina Day. Since Covid I’ve been building a YouTube channel with my own videos, which include songs accompanied by anglo concertina and anglo instrumental tunes, (as well as some acapella songs). You might want to include some of this in Concertina Jukebox. My youtube channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-sICfGN6IG2z8kB-dzatDA .

Eric writes: Here’s a song by Texan Steven Fromholz, that I learned from the singing of Andy Cohen. Accompanied on my 19th Century George Jones G/D Anglo concertina. “High Country Caravan”

First, Rob Harbron who writes, “I’ve been really enjoying playing a piece of newly composed music for the English concertina – Timothy Johnston’s ‘Nocturne for English Concertina’.  I’ve been working with Tim, helping him understand how the instrument works, and I’ve really enjoyed getting my fingers round the piece. Have a listen here!”
